  • The National Luna 12V Split Charger System is a complete turn key Dual Battery System. This kit includes an Intelligent Solenoid, one Dual Battery Controller, and all the necessary materials for installation. Please note that the battery and tray are not included.

    How It Works

The National Luna 12V Split Charger System allows you to maintain two or more batteries in your vehicle. The Intelligent Solenoid manages the charging of both batteries when the vehicle is running, and isolates them when the vehicle is off. This is all automatic. With the Dual Battery Controller, you are also able to monitor the status of the batteries and manually override the connection.

    Quick & Easy Wiring

Wiring the dual battery system is simple because you do not need to modify your existing electrical system.

    • Connect a cable from the primary battery positive lead to the left side of the solenoid on the Intelligent Solenoid.
    • Connect a cable from the secondary battery positive lead to the right side of the Intelligent Solenoid.
    • Connect a cable from the primary battery negative lead to the secondary battery negative lead.
    • Connect the control wire from the Intelligent Solenoid to the primary battery negative lead.
    • Plug the Dual Battery Controller into the Intelligent Solenoid, and run the cable into the cab of your vehicle to a convenient spot.
    • You're done!

    Great dual battery system

I have been using the National Luna dual battery kit for 3 years now with no issues. I have a 2014 4Runner with (2)Odyssey 31R-PC2150. I use the batteries to run the auxiliary lights/accessories, Winch, Dometic CFX 95DZW. The system comes with everything you need except tools. The instructions are easy to understand and give you a few layout options. The system allows for the integration of different components to enhance its capabilities without causing issues as long as it is wired properly. I use mine in conjunction with a MPPT solar charge controller and solar panel. I have recently added a 2 bank plug in charger to my setup to keep the batteries topped off when not driving my vehicle as much or so I can make sure my batteries are fully charged before a trip. The recessed controller was perfect and looks like it came that way from the factory. The EQUIPT1 team is very knowledgeable about their products and is always very helpful.

Great Instructions... Easy Install... Nice Controller

Two years ago I installed National Luma’s split charger kit in a Jeep TJ after installing a fridge. In my Jeep, the only place under the hood to place the solenoid was under the battery, which wouldn’t be easy to get to if needed. So, I instead installed the solenoid in the top of the lid of the auxiliary battery box which is in the back of my Jeep.

I found the kit well supplied with needed parts and extra battery cable. The instructions the kit came with were AWESOME, and easy to follow. I did end up buying longer battery cable to run cable to the back of my Jeep. If the solenoid is placed under the hood, the supplied cable is enough. However I like having the solenoid in the back of my Jeep as it’s protected from engine heat, dirt, water, and mud!

After multiple trips, I really do like the supplied controller the kit comes with for monitoring both batteries. It’s easy to use. My only note of caution about the solenoid is that it continues to draw off of the main battery when my Jeep sits (which is more than not, so I keep a trickle charger on the main battery when parked for more than two weeks). I’ll note that the controller lights can be turned off so that it’s not puling current. It would be nice to shut the solenoid off when not needed, which I hope that NL will address in a future version.
