Hi, this is Paul with Equipt Expedition Outfitters, and today I want to show you something brand-new from Eezi-Awn that I think everybody's going to get excited about. What we have here is the Canine Load Bar System for the Tacoma and Tundra bed rails.
If you take a look at it, the premise of this whole thing is this little guy here. We have our typical gutter mount leg style extrusion with a diagonal brace underneath for more support. On the backside, there's an internal tab designed to help support more weight from the bed rail.
On this side, we have an adjustable mount with eight-millimeter hardware and a threaded plate on the backside. It is so easy to put on. You take this little guy here right off, slide it out, loosen up the bolts to that plate as far as you can go, slide it inside that extrusion, and you can see the plate already on there. It makes it very easy, and all you have to do is put this little clip back in place, and you're done.
Mount the load bars on here. Right now, you take a look at the profile: this is a 1250 millimeter or 50-inch wide load bar. You can make them longer; we have 1250, 1400 millimeters, 55 inches, or 59 inches at 1500 millimeters. You can choose the width of the load bar that you want.
The reason why we made it so deep is because a lot of this area is just plastic on the edge. We wanted to get back on the metal bed rail to give us vertical support. With this back brace, we can put a lot of weight down on the top, and it's going to work out incredibly well.
We're using our Canine Load Bars. You can see we've got a T-slot for bolts pointing upwards, which is good for adding things on top of the load bars like Maxtrax mounts or Rotopax mounts. What we really liked about this load bar is this edge. Most rooftop tents have a bolt pointing downward for mounting, and this lip is designed to be drilled. We've already drilled a couple of holes, allowing us to put that bolt from the tent down through there, and on the bottom side, we put a nut and washer to secure the tent.
For dimensions, from the bed rail to the top is six and a quarter inches. We tried to give the bed area as much space as possible while keeping the standard rooftop tent height in the 12 to 13-inch range to maintain a low center of gravity and aerodynamics.
For this size of pickup bed, two load bars are sufficient to mount a 1400 or 1600 tent. If you want a longer bed or rack, add an extra load bar. These mounts are also good for mounting roof racks, but that's a different story for another video.
We're very excited to have this as part of our new series of products from Eezi-Awn, and we hope you like it. Let us know. This is Paul with Equipt. Thank you.
