hi this is Paul with Equipt Expedition Outfitters and today we're going to do something pretty fun we're gonna put some seat covers in our Gen 3 tundra the seat covers are made by our our favorite company escape gear out of Cape Town South Africa and they make custom-fit cotton canvas and poly cotton canvas seat covers for these vehicles now so come on in here and I'll show you what we have as far as what's going in this vehicle we've gotten a set of five headrest covers they come in the kit and then now this kid is a two row kit you can buy it either as a single front row single two row or a kit for both roles and the first few pieces that we have here are the tops and the bottoms for the rear seats and then down below here we have both the left and right seat covers now they seat covers take a little bit to put on but once they're on you're in really good shape and there they are adjustable after the fact so these seat covers this is a full seat cover for one of the front seats it's two pieces but what they've done is they've put the webbing that they put the seat together with all together so that you have it as a template now it's a little bit confusing when you first start to take a look at this but once you stare at it for a minute it makes a lot more sense how they want to learn about this so on the back of our seat cover we have two straps that are on the back those two straps go to the two edges of the seat cover on both left and right edge now in here as part of that backrest they have three straps coming off the front of the rest of the scene those come up and and connect to one of the friction buckles up in front now the bottom part here this part here has three straps that go from the back to the front so what we end up having is six straps that go from the back of the seat to the front of the seat and two straps on each side now what we're going to do is we're going to take these apart separate the top from the bottom we're going to go into the truck and start putting these together okay so now what we have done is we've taken the two pieces of the front seat cover and separated so now what you'll see on the seat cover is that we have three straps off to the back of the bottom of the seat plus a strap on each side and those will attach to the back widened the first of all talked to you a little bit about the materials that the escape gear seat covers are made out of this is one of three materials that they make the seat cover out if they have to covered covers that are made out of a cotton canvas in a light khaki and a gray it's a light much lighter gray than this this one here is made from what they call a tough canvas it's a dark charcoal material and it's a poly cotton blend and they call it a tough canvas because the material wears a lot longer has a lot less operation to it than the cotton canvas it's similar to comparing a canvas or a cotton t-shirt to a poly cotton t-shirt the cotton t-shirt has a lot softer feel to it but the poly cotton blend seems to wear longer and that's exactly what we have here so because my vehicle has a black interior I decided to go with with the tough the charcoal so let's go inside and start good and easy all right so we're gonna start on the passenger side seat inside our Gen 3 tundra this is a double cab version here they make them for both the double cab and the crew max setup so the seat cover goes over the top of the seat in this direction here but I want to talk about something that's underneath the seat before we even start down underneath the seat on the back of the seat is a big flap or panel and on the front of that panel are two loops of elastic material hooked on a couple hooks the design there is to is to create a nice finish for the seat underneath it so that people rushing rushing their shoes or whatever on there don't scuff up or get hooked on anything under the seat it makes it very difficult to put a seat cover on the seat when that panel is in place so if you go behind the seat reach under there and the front of that flap you'll feel that elastic material in there there's two hoops take those hoops off in that panel will open up and out of the way and what that allows us to do is to take the front of this panel here with those three straps and slide those straps down in between the seat bottom and a seat back and get those straps to the forward portion of the seat to tie back into the friction buckles okay so now what we're gonna do is we're gonna take this cover and slide it right over the top of the seat here the best you can now these seat covers come with a couple pockets a map pocket on the back and a pocket that fits on the inside of the seat rest here slide that down onto there and see that that pocket there other pockets on the back they have cutouts for the headrest so we took the headrest off before we started here and those become available to put the headrest back on into place you slide this down as best possible as an initial start and now we have those three straps those three straps will fold right through here and we'll get those through and down out of the the back to reach through the forward alright so we have the back all set in there and we have the panel set down there we have the flap out of the back on the back and now we're gonna put this panel in here now again we have on the bottom are three straps to go underneath the seat here and on each side we have a strap here on the front we now have six buckles that will take the three from the back and three from the bottom underneath the seat and tie them all in position this way we can situate the the cover in place and tighten it down into position another great thing that escape gear down here is that on the inside of each one of the pieces of the cover set they put a tag and it shows the color of the item the code of the item and where is supposed to fit the role of the material so if we need to match something later there's a good chance we might be able to match it and on here this one says front headrest so we're gonna put that on this front headrest here and put it back in the car also if you notice they also have airbag compliance on the side here and they let you know which side of the vehicle you're supposed to put these darn things on so we have the seat headrest ever played on and I think they did a pretty darn good job but just well close underneath on it and take that guy and you put it right back up in here slide it down in place and it looks pretty good so let's take a look at the seat covers now you notice that everything is stitched each panel matches the panel underneath as far as its design and contour here the seat fits really well throughout all of the positions here we had one strap here that we took down behind the plastic piece and that worked out well in the back it comes and fits nice and clean in here nice and tight you can see that it is a will fabricated set of covers now on the backside here if you look back in here we do have our matte pocket in here the contour sets up relatively nice all the way through here as well attention to detail is amazing on these so while we were videoing in here you probably saw this on the center console this is escape gears center console cover for the tundra that's it's down pretty nice on there considering what they had to work with it's pretty ingenious how they went about keeping a whole open section around here but still keeping each one of these pieces tight what's a noticing on the underside here is we've got a bunch of webbing going around we've got two webbing going front to back that are tied together in the center with the truss and you've got a top and a bottom here and uses just fine it covers it pretty darn well there's a little a little bit of spots but I think once the fabric has some time to just lay here and be in place it's all gonna smooth out but I think it was pretty ingenious how they covered them so now we're gonna work on the back seats and again you see the tag written here is a 60 series or excuse me 60% seat so this is the bottom of the 60% part of the rear seat set now we have the same strap system going there we have an outside one with the friction buckles and the out but a straightforward straight forward straight forward you have a fourth here straight forward and we have one around the edge of the seat cover now the one that you don't see very much is the one that goes straight across so when you fold the seat bottom upward that one goes straight across to hold the cover around the backside now I want to show you also what's going on on the 60% top all right the backrest we have on here two straps two on the middle we have a strap on each side to go around to the bottom there if you notice these are different straps this one here has a cam that holds in place it's a little bit different situation because of the access to the back of the seats is very limited so you have to use a different setup to hold these in place and we'll show you how that all works when you go inside the truck I'm thinking that I do want to point out is on the 60% portion on the bottom of the Australia the seat is a piece that has a piece of velcro on here and what that does is it allows you to open up that access point to go around the seat belts that are in the vehicle here okay that's the way you get through all of that and make it lay flat so we have the back seat bottom portion of the seat covers on and they turned out pretty nice if you notice it's a nice complete seam across here nice piping around here the handle is covered pretty well it does a pretty good job around there right along the front seat there we have cutouts up here for the seat belt and the buckles on both sides and what I want to show you how long do this here we raise this up under here and you can see how this is put together we've got a friction buckle for each of the sides we've got four straps going front to back one strap across side to side and the same for that over there on the 40 side but that's what it looks like underneath I think it's a very clean situation and let to adjust as necessary for a nice clean finish on it so I just take that put it back in place and there you go so now you can see what the back seat rests look like if you remember when we looked at them on the table they were just a front cover with a couple panels that went behind we have straps we have four straps across the 60% and two straps on the on the 40% and the difference in the straps is that the strap comes down behind the seat you have to feed it down behind the seat and what I found is if you push the the buckle underneath the seat here and then fold the seat up up in place you can gain access behind the seat to bring the strap down and the buffle together now that the trick of this matter is is that right now escape gear is using a cam latch instead of a friction buckle meaning the friction buckles are like on the rest of the seat covers where the strap comes in goes around on itself and comes back out on this one it's a straight shot through and there's a cam lever that comes down and holds it in place and keeps it from backing out okay so when you put that buckle up under there you slide the the webbing down through this way here this level lever comes down holds on to it and keeps the the webbing from coming back up it's a little bit tricky honestly a little bit of a pain in the neck to put in here and it's a lot of adjustment and fitting but once you get it there it's in pretty good shape and it'll stay right where it is and you can adjust it in the future if you need it tighter or loosen it up you'll notice on the seat backs they have a little a little a fabric idea here that gives you an idea of where the seat restraint hooks are just like the seat covers themselves do the seats themselves so you have those in the four locations on the back seats back here the headrests are nice and snug really a tight solid fit and it contours to the seats very well this folks is the first set of seat covers in a tundra in the United States this was their first run at this and honestly I can't I can't tell much about building a seat cover they know what they're doing I'm very impressed without it turned out I hope this was of help to you again I'm Paul with equipt thanks for watching
