Hi, this is Paul with Equipt Expedition Outfitters, and today we're going to have a lot of fun with some seat covers for a Gen 3 Toyota Tacoma double cab from Escape Gear out of Cape Town, South Africa. The set of seat covers that we have here are the cotton canvas in light grey. In front of us, we have a center console, the two front headrests, three rear headrests, the seats, the 60 percent and 40 percent for the rear, and the 60 and 40 percent covers for the backs of the rear set. Here we have the seat covers for the front two seats. With typical Escape Gear fashion, we've got a bunch of friction buckles to hold all of the seats together.
The trick of the matter is anytime that you're putting together a set of seat covers from Escape Gear, you want to look at how they sent it to you because it's your blueprint for how it's going to go back into the vehicle. They hooked all of the friction straps together as they should come out in the vehicle. We have on each side of the seat and back, a friction buckle hooked to the edge of the seat. So those would come apart on each side. I've got it buckled up here, hold on, there we go.
Now, if you look at the front of the seat here, this is the front of the seat back. We have three straps coming off of there. Those three straps come to the front lower edge of the seat bottom. Okay, so we have three here, we undo these one, two, and three. Now that separates the front seat back from the front seat bottom.
When we look at the front seat bottom, you'll notice that we have the same scenario set up. We have three straps that go from the back to the front underneath the seat. We'll let those go like such, and now all of those straps are ready to go. We're going to line these up when we put them in. We'll take the three straps on the bottom, hook those to one, two, three buckles here with the top on, and do the same thing. The seat cover will be infinitely adjustable once we have it in place. Let's go ahead and try that out in the truck.
Here we are with the front set of seat covers put in the Gen 3 Tacoma. You can see them in here, and I think they did a really good job with them. You can see the headrest is in place, holes for that, the piping that they've done for the seats, airbag compliant, the contours of the different panels that are put in place, and the setting here. They've done a really good job with the fitment across here with the piping and the different materials that they used to patch this set of seat covers together. If you look down under here, it shows that it's all tucked up in there nice and clean. They've done a really good job of it. It's also a center console cover to match the seats. If you notice on the side of each one of the seats, there is a pouch for storage. On the back of the seat covers here, you can see that there is a mat pocket right here, a very nice amount of pockets set into the back here.
The reason why I wanted to show you the back is there is a little bit of a trick to setting these in here. On the seat itself, there is a panel that comes down from the seat and goes underneath the seat. On the front of that panel are a couple of clips with some expansion material on them that clip to the bottom of the seat. That is the cover between the seat back and the seat bottom. You need to undo those clips to gain access. You pull that panel out of the way, and that gains you access to run all of the straps that hold the front of the seat back and the seat bottom in place. Those six straps come down through between the SI pieces and underneath the seat up to the front of the seat cushion to be tightened in place. The only way to gain access to that is to undo that flap and fold it up out of the way to gain access there.
One of the things that I really like about what Escape Gear does is that in each one of the pieces that they provide to you, they provide this tag, and it has all sorts of information on there. There's a code for the item, what the item is, as well as the cut number and roll number, and who did it for quality control. The second item number shows us that this is a center headrest for the rear seat at the center. We've got the two other headrests here and our 60/40 pieces to go in here. Let's go to it.
Here we have the second row seats, the back seat set in the Tacoma with the backrests and the headrests in place. Well put together, we've got the 40% here and the 60% here. These pieces here are held in place with straps, friction straps underneath, and these are in place, put together. Then there's a flap at the bottom here that folds under and is velcroed on the back of the seat cover to hold that one in place. The headrests are put into place here. Overall, I think it turned out to be a great set for the Tacoma, a really good answer for the money, and I think you'll really enjoy them. This is Paul with Equipt. I appreciate you watching.
